The Mainwaring Arms is part of the ancient Whitmore estate which has been in the same family since shortly after the Norman Conquest in 1066.
In 1842 a new road was built from Newcastle to Whitmore which bypassed the original coaching inn, the Bull & Heifer.
Admiral Rowland Mainwaring built the Sheet Anchor in Baldwin's Gate in 1840, and The Mainwaring Arms was completed in 1844.
We met nearly 20 years ago in Natasha's first pub, we are both very much outdoors people and are fortunate enough to live in the countryside near Baldwin's Gate.
Natasha has 25 years experience in the Restaurant & Pub trade, covering everything from small outlets to managing huge 350 cover operations. She is the driving force behind the Mainwaring Arms and intends to ensure that it remains a proper country pub for the local community.
Andrew has had a senior management role providing business and marketing solutions to well known retailers. He loves food & real ale and can occasionally be found wandering around the pub sampling our products.
We rescued Rufus from Birmingham Dogs Home last year. He is probably about 2 yrs old, and has the most lovely temperament. He is very wise, and he loves cheese!
We also have Fleur, who is also a Lurcher puppy, and Jasper a little black poodle. They both refused to have their photos taken on this occasion. Fleur is also from Birmingham Dogs Home, and we inherited Jasper.
We love Dogs, and we encourage you to bring yours in. There are some great walks around the pub and nearby Hanchurch Woods or Maer Hills. Muddy boots are also welcome!
